Case overview

The documented record

In January 2019, Chad, Margaret, and Cody Amato were found shot to death inside their family home in Chuluota, Florida. Investigators soon focused on Grant Amato, whose consuming relationship with a Bulgarian webcam model and heavy online spending had caused severe financial and emotional conflict within the family. Prosecutors argued that after his family cut off his access to the woman and forced him to leave the home, Grant killed his parents and brother and attempted to make the scene appear to be a murder-suicide. He was convicted of three counts of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
